THE ELEPHANT LADY of THAILAND by Dennis W. Shepherd
Born a poor hill tribe girl from a mountain jungle village in northern Thailand, Lek Chailert spent her childhood learning spiritual and healing powers from her grandfather, the village shaman. Hers was a world filled with beautiful morning calls from hundreds of gibbons, lush jungle foliage, banyan trees and giant timber bamboo, clear mountain creeks, and, from time to time, a wandering Asian tiger. She learned how to collect medicinal herbs and heal sick and injured animals. She also fought a constant battle against the vicious discrimination practiced against hill tribe minorities. Elephant Lady is the true story of this amazing woman. At her low point, she was a hunted woman, targeted for assassination. She became a national disgrace when the world learned that elephants were being tortured for the sake of pleasing tourists at elephant shows. Powerful shadow forces in her native Thailand blamed her for the loss of tourist dollars. Discover the power of truth and conviction as you take one woman’s journey into darkness, only to overcome it all, and ascend as the world’s premier elephant savior.

History unfortunately is written by the conqueror and therefore lacks the balance of truth one should expect in an accurate historical accounting. This collection presents facts, not fiction, of events that have taken place in this land that is now called the United States of America. In the "settlers' quest" for what was not available to them in their homelands, they set out to take from those who were the original inhabitants of this land. The result of this greed was hundreds of wars, multitudes of lies, and the committing of atrocities whose repercussions still resound today.
The writings within are not intended as complete history, but rather something to whet your curiosity enough to investigate on your own. Do so at your own peril as the truth can and will torture one's mind as it relates to beliefs held close as a result of the Declaration and the Constitution. It should be embarrassing enough just to relate this one simple fact: out of the five-hundred plus treaties signed by Native Americans with the government of the U.S.A., the government cannot point to one it has honored.

Al-Qaeda has a brand new weapon in their war of terror: a deadly unconventional explosive. The U.S. Government can’t figure out what it is, or where al-Qaeda is getting it, until two men try and help solve the mystery. Newly recruited Dragonslayer, Captain Cabbott Westmoreland, is the number one sniper in the world. Years of hunting animals and humans have sharpened his senses to amazing proportions. He must use those skills to unravel a major plot by al-Qaeda. Can he do it? Or will some personal blunders cost the lives of thousands across the globe? Time is of the essence if they are going to stop the attacks.
Lieutenant Jake Collins finds the other piece of the puzzle. His jaded, bad-boy past helps uncover the source of the explosives. Now it’s time to take the fight back to the terrorists. The thrilling sequel to PROJECT: DRAGONSLAYERS, it continues the saga of the unlikely Special Forces team thrown headfirst into the world of counterterrorism. Battling forces seen and unseen, they use technological advances to gain the upper hand against their enemies.
The Secrets of the Stonewood Sanitarium by Linda A. Krug is geared to adolescent readers but will also be enjoyed by adults. This is a well-written mystery that keeps readers turning pages to find out just what is going on in the Stonewood Sanitarium.
Once again we have a teenager that faces life-changing events, in that Nate’s parents and brother died in a plane crash on a trip to Brazil, that he passed up in order to go to baseball camp, and now has to live with that fact. He has an aunt and uncle that offer to take him in, but they live way out in the country near a tiny village in northwestern Pennsylvania, which he nicknames “Snoozeville.” But Nate is a great kid, and remembers many of his mother’s words, and realizes that he needs to make the best of his new situation. He loves his aunt and uncle, enjoys the way they banter between each other, and respect the fact that they want the best for him, and truly do want to be as close to being parents to him as possible, even though all know they can never replace his parents.
Author Linda Krug takes the reader right along with Nate and does a great job with description to take the reader into the action, holding their breath and hiding to not be discovered, experiencing all of the scary events along the way. I will not ruin the mystery, but I will give readers a warning that there are some gruesome and gory sections to this book that might find some readers a bit squeamish at times. The “bad guys” in this mystery are really bad and I think most readers will be completely surprised by the happenings of Stonewood Sanitarium.
